ARTUR RUBINSTEIN 2 AUTOGRAPHED AND INSCRIBED LPs WITH AN INTERESTING PROVENANCE
These two signed and inscribed Artur Rubinstein records offered here have an interesting provenance. It belonged to the Brazilian pianist Rosana-Maria Martins to whom these records were dedicated by him. She was the winner of La Federation Internationale des Jenesses Musicales Competition in 1960 in Berlin together with the acclaimed French pianist Jean-Bernard Pommier, against the competition of pianists from 19 countries. On this competition she played Schumann: “Papillons” for piano, Op. 2 / Debussy: “Poissons D’or”. During this competition a limited Edition album of 3500 copies was recorded and one of these copies is included on this offer. Despite her great talent, for whatever reason, she didn’t pursue a pianistic career.

1) RCA Victor A 630240 – Artur Rubinstein plays Chopin: Mazurcas Nos. 22 to 38 – Rare early French Mono LP – Please note: Bach cover signed with red ink by Artur Rubinstein - Cover Condition: VG- (surface wear, many creases, some edge tears, taped seams) / Record Condition: VG- (some depression marks, hairline scratches and some pressing bubbles). Both labels are discolored and almost illegible.
2) RCA Victor A 630241 – Artur Rubinstein plays Chopin: Mazurcas Nos. 22 to 51; Polonaise No.7; Andante Spianato et Grand Polonaise – Rare early French Mono LP – Please note: Bach cover dedicated in Spanish to Rosana-Maria Martins and signed dated 10.9.60 with red ink by Artur Rubinstein. Translating the text into English, it goes like this: “To Rosana Martins, a girl of great talent, whishing a brilliant future, Artur Rubinstein, 10.9.60 - Cover Condition: VG- (surface wear, many creases, tape residues, taped seams) / Record Condition: VG- (some light surface hairline scratches and a deeper one) . Both labels are discolored and almost illegible.
3) Federation Internationale des Jenesses Musicales 008 566 – Rosana-Maria Martins plays Schumann: “Papillons” for piano, Op. 2 / Debussy: “Poissons D’or”. Jean-Bernard Pommier plays Haydn: Piano Concerto in D Minor, Op. 21 – Rare ca. 1960 French Mono LP with Gatefold Cover. Limited Edition of 3500 copies (this is copy #01260). Internal cover signed and inscribed by Rosana-Maria Martins – Cover Condition: VG++ / Record Condition: VG+ (some light surface hairlines).
