Description

ASD 255 MICHELANGELI RAVEL RACHMANINOV WG HMV NM

DESCRIPTION:

On offer with no reserve… Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli With The Philharmonia Orchestra Conducted By Ettore Gracis. Rachmaninov Concerto No. 4 In G Minor and Ravel Concerto In G Major. Original ED1 1st Press White / Gold UK Issue. The record available in this auction is the first STEREO pressing of this outstanding performance and was the first recording to bring the brilliant Michelangeli to the attention of discerning music lovers round the world. Of a Michelangeli concert at Carnegie Hall, Harold Schonberg of The New York Times wrote: "His fingers can no more hit a wrong note or smudge a passage than a bullet can be veered off course once it has been fired...." A superb pianist in both concertos, this recording has gone on to become a classic and is highly sought after by knowledgeable collectors. Please view the detailed images of the actual record for sale and see below for a full condition report.

Label: white / Gold HMV ED1 STEREO:

CAT NO: ASD 255

CONDITION:

A note on grading I use the Record Collector grading system with the addition of a (+) or a (-) to denote a slight increase or decrease in condition. Items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Thorens TD-124 MKII with an SME 3012 Tonearm and Ortofon SPU moving Coil Cartridge.

I have been collecting and trading records for many years and genuinely want you to be happy with your purchase. For this reason I treat grading very seriously and strictly enough to please all potential bidders (See feedback for peace of mind)… All of Audio Grails records are guaranteed. If you'd like any further details, feel free to e-mail me with your questions or requests audiograil@mail.com

Record:

The surfaces of this first STEREO pressing feature a wonderful lustre under direct angled light; the playing surface displays light (non feel able) paper blemishes only. The disk is flat with no warp or buckle of any kind. The first press white / Gold HMV labels show NO signs of use to the spindle hole and have retained their full colour. There is no writing, rips, stickers or other detractors. Condition grade visually = NM Aurally = NM …Please take the time to study the images above which I hope illustrate the true condition of this record accurately

Cover:

The fully laminated half moon flip back thin card cover has retained it’s original colour, the edges / seams are straight. The corners display some light rubbing / rounding. The spine does however display numerous creases / tiny tears; the opening edge is sharp but slightly ‘flared’. There are NO lamination difficulties. The back cover displays a small and discrete repair to the top flip back No, stickers, rips, or tears, which are so often sadly present with this type of thin cover. Condition Grade = VG+ Please take the time to study the images above for a clear view of condition
