ASH RA TEMPEL - ASH RA TEMPEL STARRING ROSI

A beautiful German original 1st press copy of this rare and sought after 1973 prog/kraut rock gem, on the KOSMISCHE MUSIK label, in wonderful QUAD sound format, KM 58007

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  SQ ST KM 58 007 A 0664 411 S1 with stampers "A1" and "1" at 9 o'clock and 10.30 o'clock respectively

Side 2  SQ ST KM 58 007 B 0664 411 S2 with stampers "E" and "1" at 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock respectively

The appearance of the completely flat vinyl is near mint. Gleaming vinyl with jet black lacquering and in normal daylight no visible marks or blemishes at all. With close scrutiny and under an intense light it is just possible to make out a couple of wispy hairlines on each side of the vinyl, with nothing "feelable" or obviously below the surface here - brilliant! Clearly this record has been barely played, borne out by it's still amazing appearance after 46 years, the wonderful quadraphonic sound reproduction (see below), and the still pristine nature of each of the labels. Wonderful!

The labels are pristine. Beautiful 1st press yellow smooth textured background with light blue text all perfectly intact and with no unwanted writing or marks and all. Not even the usual one or two very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label - just perfect! 

The condition of the iconic front and reverse side laminated outer sleeve is excellent plus (EX+). Beautiful colouring and art work still retaining it's original vibrancy and clarity on both sides. no creasing, no ring wear, and each edge remains rigid and devoid of any scuffing. The spine is near perfect with all text remaining perfectly intact, and each corner remains a perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing or scuffing at all. The condition of this sleeve really is hard to fault - a couple of barely noticeable 1cm (or less) laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the edges, a couple of tiny "nicks" along the edges...I really am struggling to come up with any imperfection. All the laminate remains in place with no lifting, and no obvious creasing anywhere. The opening edges remain wonderfully rigid with no fraying. Truly excellent plus or better!

Finally, the quality of the audio is simply wonderful - hard to fault in any way!! Brilliant tone and clarity throughout with no clicks, skips, jumps, or repeats. This quadraphonic sound quality really is terrific and I cannot imagine that there are many original German 1st pressings which are in as superb condition and with such brilliant audio reproduction as this copy. And by the way, I don't think that prog rock gets much better than the final track on this album, "Bring me Up" - what an absolute corker!

Comes with original plain white inner sleeve with no tears but there is a 6cm seam split on one of the side edges. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly brilliant, excellent plus (if not near mint) copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1973 German original rock classic, with some truly wonderful tracks - a worthy addition to any serious rock vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

27/07/19 : Since putting up this ebay listing I have given this LP a careful but thorough clean and have to say that the audio quality is now (unsurprisingly) even better than tat as described in my listing; in particular, the sound quality for track 2, side 2 is now a solid excellent with just a little, very mild background crackle in evidence at the beginning and end of this track - nothing intrusive here at all, and the overall audio quality for the entire album really is terrific.
