THE ASSORTMENT-45-“First I Look At The Purse” b/w “Bless Our Hippy Home”-Sound Spot Enterprises #2224 (Fenton label associate)-ULTRAKILLER 1966 Garage / Punk out of Lansing, Michigan. This is a KILLER record-as you all know, this is really a FENTON record...A side is a dynamite version of the Smokey Robinson/Contours classic-snotty, gutteral Sky Saxon/Jagger lead vocals, guitar and Farfisa driven with what I consider one of the TOP 5 KILLER lead fuzz guitar breaks. Just KILLER. Those of you who have heard this (you all probably have the great Fenton comp) will have to agree...the B side, as bizarre and weird as the title may seem, it is still Top 5 –Starts out like novelty ‘Home Sweet Home’ on the Farfisa, sort of nonsense for the intro, then turns into this great 2-chord PUNKER with a snotty Sky Saxon type lead vocal, Farfisa & guitar driven with a KILLER fuzz lead guitar break in the middle and at the end as well-ends like the Chob’s ‘We’re Pretty Quick’ where the Farfisa organ is turned off on the last chord...I have to rate this as a 10 out of 10 2 sider...REAL 5 STAR KILLER. DEADLY.
