Description
THE ATLANTICS “COME ON” Aussie Sunshine GARAGE PUNK CLASSIC ~ INSANELY RARE OZ 1960’s 45
The Atlantics – You Tell Me Why b/w Come On 7” (orig. Australia Sunshine MONO QK-1691)
Release date: March 1967.
On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original issue of “Come On“, a 7” single released on SUNSHINE RECORDS by Sydney-based group (JOHNNY REBB and) THE ATLANTICS. The A-side is actually “You Tell Me Why”, a cover of the 1965 (minor) hit by US - San Francisco band, THE BEAU BRUMMELS. However, it is the original B-side “Come On” that could very well be the FINEST AUSSIE 1960’s GARAGE PUNK TRACK EVER COMMITTED TO VINYL!
Check out THE ATLANTICS 1967 ABC TV show performances of both songs on YouTube (below) – absolutely jaw dropping!

GRADING to follow . . .

GRADING (also refer photos)
Record:
visual: FAIR : beautiful glossy sheen despite NUMEROUS scuffs & scratches, which are superficial for the most part (heavier scratch can be felt at beginning of “Come On“). A GAP-FILLER UNTIL A BETTER COPY TURNS UP – IMPOSSIBLY RARE IN ANY CONDITION - GOOD LUCK TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER!
audible: PUNCHY and VIBRANT SOUND despite some minimal underlying surface noise. “Come On“ - moderate clicks for first 40 seconds as stylus passes over (not overwhelming but they are apparent), light intermittent clicks from 1:35 to 2:15 as stylus passes over, therefore G+ overall / “You Tell Me Why“ - very light intermittent pops (definitely not constant, superficial to most collectors), therefore VG. THE GREAT NEWS IS THAT THIS 45 PLAYS THROUGH WITHOUT ANY JUMPS OR SKIPS.
labels: HARDLY ANY SPINDLE WEAR, minimal handling wear.
I HAVE ONLY EVER OWNED TWO COPIES OF THIS HIGHLY COLLECTABLE 45 SINCE 1987 AND BOTH HAVE BEEN IN FAIR CONDITION. THIS IS MY LAST REMAINING COPY AND I WILL BE SAD TO LET IT GO. THE MINIMUM BID HAS BEEN SET AT A VERY REASONABLE $99 DUE TO THE LOWER GRADING. GENUINE NEAR MINT COPIES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO FETCH $1000+, SO PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN BIDDING. BEST OF LUCK!
