OK, I strongly assume I have the credit for introducing this one to the psych/prog rarities (happy me!) but of course, I cannot be 100% sure. I just know that before I introduced this, noone knew about it. I sold one last year undercover (without giving album and band title) and since then this is the only time I am offering it on eBay again. Although I search it vigorously every time I go to India, noone over there knows about it neither.

Briefly, we have so little info about this LP. It's by a band called Atomic Forest and the album title is "Obsession '77". It's been produced by Sharon Prabhakar, one of the finest female pop singers of late 70s and 1980s India. I have no idea what the connection is but considering both Sharon's records come out of the Music India label as well as this LP does, maybe she is just credited to give the album a little sale boost. It seems it didn't work.

The disc offers an i*n*c*r*e*d*i*b*l*e band playing their sweat off! They do sound like a raw garage band with not much care for production (they were probably financially not allowed to spend much time in studio and perfect their sound anyway) but the output is a killer knock-out psych-out! They are doing a lot of covers but the covers come with a distinctive Indian feel with tablas and advanced arrangements, not to mention truly lethal levels of fuzz guitar. They have very funnily quoted Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath as "Locomotive Bread" on the cover and it is obvious there's serious phonetic errors in their 'understanding' of the words too since they sing all the English songs with wrong lyrics. There also are a couple of instrumental freak out tunes which are very unlike late 70s; they sound like a magnificent psych freak-out festival psych band from late 60s with an Indian feel. This is truly gorgeous stuff and as rare as taking literally years to find in a country of a billion!

The copy here is fantastic. We have a very strong VG++ cover. There's a light split on the very middle 2 cm of the spine, otherwise no tears, no writings. Very light ringmark and a very small paper peel (probably) from a former shop-sticker on the lower side of back cover. Disc is a great EX. No hairlines or scuffs, grooves are shiny great but there are very light marks that show it has been used before so it's a safe with EX. Labels also perfect.
