Description

Part of a small (but perfectly formed!) collection I will be listing of rare early stereo female jazz vocal UK-issued LPs, ALL FACTORY SAMPLE copies once owned by legendary UK producer and Columbia label-head Norman Newell. This is a lovely little collection and in great condition; perfect for audiophiles, these will sound great on any system, but play them on a good system and, WOW, this is what stereo should sound like, beautifully pressed, beautifully recorded, impeccable arrangements and the cream of vocal standards sung by the best vocalists!!   This one is Ella Fitzgerald's 'Sings The Harold Arlen Songbook Vol.2' from 1961, on UK HMV EMI Stereo blue/gold rim label CSD 1390, C-1/D-1 matrices, nice and heavy 160g vinyl. Tracks: When The Sun Comes Out, Come Rain Or Come Shine, As Long As I Live, Happiness Is A Thing Called Joe, It's Only A Paper Moon, The Man That Got Away, One For My Baby, It Was Written In The Stars, Get Happy, I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues, Out Of This World, Over The Rainbow   Front-laminated flipback G&L sleeve has lovely clean and shiny laminate and just a couple of tiny edge creases! Very minor! Superb! Sleeve grades at least EX+!   Vinyl has just two small marks on side 1, tracks 1 and 3, but these in no way affect the audio, which is superb! The stereo separation and soundstage is just stunning, a testament to the recording engineers and producers, and the music is just sublime, of course! The vinyl certainly grades EX+!   SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR VOL.1 OF THIS TITLE PLUS ALL 5 OF THE ELLA/GERSHWIN SONGBOOK LPS!!
