LP-Title:  Earl “Fatha” Hines Plays Hits He Missed – “Fatha”

German pressing on M & K Realtime Records, RT 105. Limited collectors edition, Direct-To-Disc. Recorded 1978 and produced by Ken Kreisel and Jonas Miller, pressed by German TELDEC, blue label. Considered to be one of the best jazz-recordings ever: as direct, alive and natural sounding as a jazz-trio can sound performing a tasteful set of great tunes. A classic audiophile masterpiece, long out-of-print. This LP is on the TAS-list as well as on the jazz-top-ten reference-list of high-endaudio.com.

Line-up: Earl “Fatha” Hines/piano – Red Callender/bass – Bill Douglass/drums.

Tracks: Joe Zawinul’s “Birdland” - Thelonious Monk’s “Blue Monk” – Art Tatum’s “Humoresque” - Fats Waller’s “Squeeze Me” & “Ain’t Misbehavin” - Duke Ellington’s “Sophisticated Lady” - James P. Johnson’s “Old-Fashioned Love” - Errol Gamer’s “Misty” - Horace Silver’s “The Preacher”.

Condition: the record looks and plays nearly perfect in mint- to mint--. The cover has intact seams/spine with slight rub, front and back are real fine, moderate cornerwear, overall ex.

Grading & Cleaning:

• the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

• after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

• I also visually graded the record under a strong light

• only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg.

• cleaned records are stored in a new deluxe innersleeve and they are placed in a new PVC protection-sleeve !
