“Music as a means of rejuvenation was known to the ancients of many civilizations . Dance as therapy and music as sacrament was the way man entered into dialogue with that which is divine .
The movement of sound within body and mind , and the movement of body to sound , in harmony with the pulse of existence from cells to galaxies , is a profound experience with great transformational potential . From the earliest shamans and tribal dances to the most highly developed musical art forms , this power of renewal through sound remains the essence .
The impassioned beauty of the music of Strunz & Farah reflects the commingling of elements particular to their respective cultures , rooted in latin america and the middle east . Technically , their improvisational style is a synthesis stemming from an eclectic musical language that is international in its scope and embrace . Their compositions are executed with both fingernails and plectra , rendering a uniqueness to their craft .
The moods of their music evoke images such as that of the Persian musician ziryab in the court of the moors in Spain , the lush countryside of tropical America bathed in a soft rain , the echoes of the mezquita in the indigo night , the dancing Yaqui shaman lit by firelight at the edge of dawn .
The music herein is nocturnal , it belongs to the night with its dreams and visions . It conveys the yearning of the night and explores that mood in all its mystery and depth , to the very doors of dawn…….when , with the coming of the sun a new day begins , and the caravan of the night arrives at its destination .
This is a journey of the heart through its own night and dreams , seeking light and finding ultimately within itself the sun . “
