Description
Australian Aboriginal Corroboree LP
Thank you for looking at my item.
Here on offer is an early recording of Australia’s Indigenous Aboriginal songs and dances. The Australian Aboriginal culture is regarded as one of the most ancient cultures still surviving. This music has been recorded by Professor AP Elkin of the various clans found in the Northern Territory in particular Arnhem Land. This is an American Capitol T10037 release. There is no date but I would assume that it was issued in the 50s as it claims to be the first authentic Australian Aboriginal music to ever be recorded. It features the traditional instruments such as the fascinating woodwind instrument the didjeridu, rhythm sticks and chanting. On the album cover are excellent cover notes explaining the significance of these enchanting songs.
Songs include:
· Warranggan
· Men’s D’Jarada
· Women’s D’Jarada
· Mulara
· Ngorungapa
· The Mulara of Northeast Arnhem Land
· Waramiri
