Here's a single from the 'A-LIST' of rare British psychedelic singles, super-sought-after by 60's psych collectors and lable completists - and VERY FEW EXIST!! The actual 'A' side is a tripped out version of a classic nursery rhyme, the lyrics basically incidental to the guitar-driven instrumental work. The flip is the gem here, as all psych afficionados know well! 'SAD' is drenched in sharp, attacking guitar right the way through - distortion and fuzz tones, tripped-out little runs through scales, and is indeed what we psych fans want! The vocals are surrounded by disembodied choral harmonies, sometimes approaching flower-power style but not the wimpy or whispy stuff often prevalent in the San Francisco scene, and not with toytown or bubblegum leanings either. Somehow the singer avoids direct delivery, which seems to lend more to the music instead of bringing attention to the vocalist. (It's apparently Normie Rowe, who was managed by Georgio Gomelsky of Yardbirds renown). On IMMEDIATE Records IM 054 in Mono, from 1967 (the height of psych period) this treasure is in EXCELLENT EX CONDITION, no writing or stickers on the lables - nice clean item and - A KEEPER! The centre has been punched out (perhaps previously owned on the continent, where centres were removed on 7"s) - I have only disguised this so that bidders will look twice, and NOT think this to be one of those nasty bootlegs going around these days! THIS IS THE REAL AND ORIGINAL RELEASE - and this is top-of-the-list for most 60's psych and freakbeat collectors, and probably THE rarest Immediate single pressed.
