AWESOME:
Al-Haji Papa Bunka Susso –
SONGS OF KINGS AND WARRIORS –
Water Lily WLA-AS-15 –
Factory Sealed
This wonderful recording of an African vocal stylist on kora (a 21-string bridge-harp with a cowhide drum at the bottom) was captured by Kavichadran Alexander, utilizing fixed cardioid microphones in an ORTF arrangement. The tape machine was an Ampex MR70 running at 15ips, then monitored through Nelson-Reed 804 Studio Monitors and Jecklin Float electrostatic headphones.
The end result is so very sweet and alive in your listening room, for just a few precious moments, disbelief is completely suspended, as you simply revel in a fabulous performance of a man with instruments in your listening room.
A state-of-the-art recording, from one of the very best recordists, here factory sealed.
Not to be missed. Worthy of the finest vinyl library.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
