Yes, the Mehta read is one great sounding LP. The Previn is, too, the SQ matrix original, from EMI, hard to fault.
But, I tell you, this Toshiba-EMI release on 2LPs, gives the dynamics of the original Previn a sense of freedom and glory that will have you trading off every other PLANETS in the house.
Unbridled, the performance suddenly sounds as if a great “hat” has been removed from the stage, freeing every instrument to soar. And, I warn you, there is a bite to fanfare here that will raise the hair on your neck and send the pets scampering.
"Scary," is what this set is, and it’s near mint throughout.
Among the very best sound reproduction I have ever heard. Simply fabulous.
(Bet you an audiophile nickel, you have a hard time getting out of your listening-room seat when you have to flip the record. I kid you not.)
