BRAHMS – SONATAS for violin and piano – SZYMON GOLDBERG (Violin) & ARTUR BALSAM (Piano)
A hugely rare and sought after release it its first permutation. Szymon Goldberg plays accompanied by Artur Balsam: Brahms Sonata 1 in G, Op. 78; and sonata 2 in A, Op. 100 for violin and piano. Decca pressing on the Brunswick label with far superior sound than the US Decca release.
Country: UK
Label: Brunswick (Plum Labels – first and only UK edition)
Catalogue Number: AXTL 1082
GRADING:
SLEEVE
VG+
The sleeve shows some ringwear to the top of the front. There is also some edge wear. That being said, there are no splits or separations. The rear of the sleeve is in fantastic condition with no staining. There is no peeling of laminate or any other major imperfections.
LABELS
NM
No spindle marks whatsoever. There is a mark to the label on side 1, this appears to be a pressing plant flaw. This record may never have been played.
VINYL:
EX
Visually, there is one single very light mark on side 2 that can be seen under bright light. This is neither a scratch nor a scuff and does not sound. The extremely heavy weight vinyl retains its deep obsidian lustre. Confusingly, although the record looks to be near mint there is a single skip about 20 seconds into side 1. This skip is not preceded by any distortion with the record simply skipping to the next groove. I can only surmise that this is due to a pressing plant flaw. The rest of the record plays throughout as excellent with the occasional background crackle. There are no loud pops or clicks and no evidence of any groove wear.
Records shipped in dedicated record mailer with two stiffeners.

I calculate postage using the Royal mail postage calculator. I charge an extra 50p for packing materials as i buy specialist record mailers and stiffeners. Sometimes records cost less to mail than i expect. In these cases i try to refund the difference. However, as I mail a number of records at one time i occasionally lose track of who paid what postage for which record.
