Abner Jay – “Swaunee Water and Cocaine Blues” (Brandie 101). Abner Jay of Fitzgerald, Ga., spent more than 40 years putting together one of American music's most singular bodies of work before he passed away. A classic ragtime song-and-dance man, he learned his trade with Silas Green's Minstrels in the 1930's and WMAZ Minstrels in Macon during the 40's and 50's. By the late 60's, Jay had transformed himself into a one-man-band and traveling nostalgia revue, issuing a series of private press LPs. It’s kind of folk, kind of blues, and kind of like nothing else you’ve ever heard. Cuts include; “The Royal Palm”, “Cocaine Blues”, “Swaunee”, “The Reason Young People Use Drugs”, “The College Crowd”, “I’m a Hard Workin Man”, “I’m So Depressed”, “Scrap Tobacco”, and “Ol Man River”. Record is in strong VG condition (light label wear). Cover is in strong VG+ condition. Postage & insurance will be paid by purchaser.
