Description

The Valiants – For Always / Boogie — Original ACETATE / Lacquer Dub

A one-off acetate. This is not a pressed record — it is the lacquer disc cut directly in the studio at the time, usually as a reference or audition copy before (or instead of) any commercial pressing. Most were played a handful of times and shelved; survivors rarely reach the market, and they almost never appear in record-shop search because collectors don't know to look for them.

The photos show the actual disc you will receive — and you can hear it too: audio of both sides is linked below.

Condition

Disc: VG+. Sleeve: GENERIC. Condition assessed on the Goldmine scale — and with the audio above you can judge the disc for yourself. Acetates are fragile by nature: light surface noise and wear are normal and expected on lacquer discs of this age — please listen and study the photos; they form part of the description.

Please read before buying: this record was graded by eye (visual inspection) — most have not been play-tested. A visual grade can't capture how a record sounds. If you only collect play-graded records, please don't buy — buy only if you accept visual grading.

Photos and grading expectations: photos generally include images of the vinyl in strong light. Any significant damage will be focused on in the photos — please pay close attention to any marks on the surface you can see before buying. I'm happy to provide extra images on request.

Contrary to the views of some people, it is not possible to please everybody with gradings. Having sold thousands of records, I know that some buyers have very different expectations of gradings to others. I try to find the middle ground with gradings, but I know that a small percentage of people will disagree. If you buy this record, you buy with that understanding in mind, as I've now made it clear.

If you decide that you disagree with the gradings in this advert significantly on receipt, message me before opening a case. Returns are accepted and I'm happy to answer any questions.

Why this belongs in a serious collection

  • Unique artefact — a studio dub, not a mass-produced pressing
  • Unsearchable rarity — acetates seldom surface for sale anywhere
  • Audio provided — both sides, so no guesswork

Condition notes (from my own play-test): This is a one-off - totally unknown acetate. There are numerous bands called 'The Valiants' and I have attempted to match this with the correct profile on Discogs. Please let me know if you recognise it!
