Description

This record was part of my father’s vast, personal collection, Jay Monroe Sr. This record has been extremely well cared for and stored properly. My father collected records for over 60 years amassing thousands of records on labels such as Sun, Chess, Checker, Duke, Excello, Imperial, Meteor, Modern and RPM to name a few. He also collected obscure labels and pre and post war records. His focus was 50’s blues, R&B/Soul and Rockabilly but extended into Country, Gospel, Vocal and Jazz. I am not a record flipper, I’m trying to do right by my father and his life’s work. I am auctioning his collection, and his only, so others can appreciate 60+ years of work tracking down these rare records in the best possible conditions. Welcome to Monroe Rare Records where your purchase is backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back!

PLEASE NOTE: no matter how clean the vinyl is, these are 60+ year-old records. They may play with some soft surface noise. Buy with this in mind.

E+   Plays like new, with a few signs of handling, such as eyelash scuffs from being slipped in and out of old paper sleeves. Top collector piece.

E Still full gloss with a few visible signs of play. May have a few inaudible scuffs and/or a minor label imperfection. Very desirable and collectable record.

E- Still glossy but without the lustre of a new record, will have some scuffs and/or label fading or other imperfection which will be listed. Slightest of surface noise, great player. A collectable record.

V+   An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use have dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate, but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced. Sounds better than it looks.

V Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

V- Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

G+ Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
