Description
This is a complete 11-record set on the HMV label. This is by far the rarest of the HMV early electric series of Gilbert and Sullivan operas. The rarity of the album has to do with the fact that a technically superior recording was issued ten years later. Yet the 1926 recording, featuring Sir Henry Lytton remains one of the most highly regarded Gilbert and Sullivan recordings of all time. These records are all in very good condition, but expect a considerable amount of surface noise, which is characteristic of all examples of this recording. The album supplied with this set is the one issued in the USA with the RCA Victor issue of the same recording. The album is in fair, but serviceable condition. BONUS: The buyer of this nice HMV record set will also receive at no additional cost 9 records form the RCA Victor black label issue - the ones that originally came in the Victor album supplied.
