Description
Released in 1985, Alexander O'Neal's self-titled debut album introduced one of the defining voices of the Minneapolis Sound. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the album blends polished R&B, funk, and synth-driven grooves that became a hallmark of mid-1980s soul music.
The album features the hit singles "Innocent," "A Broken Heart Can Mend," "If You Were Here Tonight," and "What's Missing." Jam and Lewis' innovative production, combined with O'Neal's powerful vocals, established him as one of the era's premier R&B artists and laid the foundation for a string of successful releases.
