All American Quartet - Peace Like A River; Is He Satisfied. All American Records 1952: AAQ- 1219-45. This was also released on 78rpm shellac as AAQ-1219-78. This listing is for the very rare, hard to find, red vinyl 45rpm version. Vinyl is in excellent condition: clean, no visible scratches, no skips. Recorded and released in 1952, at the time of this pressing, All American Quartet consisted of Bill Shaw, Don Randall, C.R. Melton, Gordon Hill and Easmon Napier.
The All American Quartet was a gospel singing group organized in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1946 by Clarence "C.R." Melton. Before disbanding in 1970 the group would have many personnel changes and relocate their base of operations quite a few times. Their sound was basic four part harmony without emphasis on flashy arrangements and showmanship. Accompaniment was typically limited to the piano, but the accordion was included from time to time. Most of the quartet's early recordings were 78 RPMs on the Sacred Records label. Later many of their recordings were on the All American Quartet Record Label.
