Description
Six albums featuring unknown artists who later went on to great acclaim. All are unplayed or lightly played -- please read individual descriptions carefully:
1. Flaming Youth featuring PHIL COLLINS, 1969 - "Ark 2" was the only album this band released, a "concept" album inspired by the moon landing. That's 18-year-old Phil in the pink undershirt on the back jacket, a year before he became drummer/2nd vocalist for Genesis. The jacket shows signs of light wear -- it is almost 50 years old! Disc in its original dust jacket is unplayed and sparkling clean. A la carte price - $30
2. & 3. Black Sheep featuring LOU GRAMM (FOREIGNER), 1975 - Both of Black Sheep's 1975 albums are included, the first self-titled and the second, "Encouraging Words." Louie Grammatico led this hard-rocking Rochester, NY band until fate intervened in the form of Mick Jones, Foreigner's founding member. That band's first release in 1976 is AOR (album oriented rock) radio history! Both albums are unplayed with clean jackets except for holes punched into them by the record company. Discs are in the original illustrated dust jackets with red and tan Capitol labels. A la carte price - $30 each
4. Kangaroo featuring JOHN HALL (ORLEANS), 1968 - Five years before Orleans released its first album, John Hall joined Kangaroo, a band founded by Barbara Keith (great singer!) and N.D. Smart. Orleans became a soft rock radio staple and favorite of Republican politicians (George W. Bush and John McCain both used "Still the One" as campaign themes until Democrat Hall nixed it.) Hall went on to become a member of the U.S. Congress representing a district in NY state. Album is still factory sealed with a small hole punched in jacket indicating it came from the cut-out bin ("2 for $1.") A la carte price - $40 5. The Blues Project featuring AL KOOPER & STEVE KATZ (BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS), 1975 - This is a compilation album of tracks recorded by the band in the 1960s. Blues? Well, they were a bunch of white kids from New York state, not Howlin' Wolf, but they were good. Kooper remains active with a career that is so intertwined with the history of rock and roll there's no time to go into it except to say that the electric organ at the beginning of "Like a Rolling Stone" is Al, pre-Blues Project. Album, saved from the cut-out bin, is in original shrink wrap and has been lightly played. No visible marks on jacket or disc except for hole punched by distributor. A la carte price - $25
6. Rotary Connection featuring MINNIE RIPERTON, 1967 - A pet project of Marshall Chess (Leonard's son), this album features vaguely "psychedelic" versions of Sam & Dave's "Soul Man," Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" (misspelled Rollin' on the back jacket) and a couple of Stones tunes. Could the world have done without this album? I'll leave it to you to decide, but it did start Minnie Riperton's career and she was a superb singer who passed away much too young and gave the world daughter Maya Rudolph. Album has only light wear to the jacket. Disc is unplayed and completely clean. A la carte price - $20

Record sales are not my livelihood, so rather than attempt to grade them using a system in which I have no expertise, I prefer to let the photos and my honest descriptions tell the story. If they're described as unplayed, it's because I never played them and there've been no other owners.
