Description
Amy Grant RIAA Gold Record Album Award.
In late 1983 (or early 1984) while working for A&M Records, I flew to New York to meet Amy Grant as she was considering signing with A&M. She was, as I recall, touring in support of her “Straight Ahead” album and appearing in New York City (my memory suggests it was Radio City or Carnegie Hall). I worked on numerous Amy Grant singles and albums, saw her in concert multiple times, visited her ranch in Tennessee for a picnic, and occasionally spoke with her. (I recall dropping in to the studio in North Hollywood where she was working on the “Heart In Motion” album. It was a chance to say goodbye since I was leaving A&M.) One of the memories I’ve had for 35 years was receiving an RIAA Gold Album award for her album “The Collection” and have it hanging in my office. It’s now time to downsize and I’ve decided to sell this treasure.
This is an original award disc created through her then-management office (Fitzgerald Hartley) with the approval of the RIAA. It was given to me by Amy and her management group to say thanks for the work we put in to making “The Collection” album a success. Some points:
• The dimensions of the plaque are (approximately):
• 21” tall
• 17” wide
• 1.25” thick
• The award has a ‘tooth’ hanger on the back.
• The album was certified by the RIAA as a “Gold Album” in 1987, which is the year I received this plaque (note the RIAA seal on the plaque).
• The plastic molding/wrap along the top edge has come loose. I currently live in rural northern California and have no professional framers so I’ve elected to NOT re-glue the top edge. I’ll leave it for the new owner to deal with. Seems like a simple fix.
Please note: This RIAA Gold Record Award will be shipped for a flat fee of $35 to addresses in the continental United States. An additional $25 for addresses in Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. territories. Shipping to addresses outside of the United States or its territories is at seller's discretion and at purchasers' expense.
