Description

This meeting with preeminent American free jazz drummer Andrew Cyrille features barnstorming energy workouts, as well as more subdued explorations of rhythmic textures, multiphonics, and melody. Expect the unexpected, from bicycle horns to bits of "Night in Tunisia!". ~ Destination-Out

This encounter between Brötzmann and the masterful Cyrille underscores the free music axiom that energy creates structure. While Brötzmann’s 'Wolf Whistle' is a vivid foray in flat-out intensity, it is Cyrille’s 'Quilt' that contains the program’s most memorable moments. ~ Coda Magazine

Cover and vinyl are both in Very Good condition, but there is a flaw in the pressing on side 1 which causes noise and a slight jump. There is also a slight scratch on side 1 which can be heard. To check out these imperfections before you purchase, download an excerpt in FLAC format from http://bjorsq.net/fmp which has the first flaw at the start and the second at the end.

This week I'm selling all my old vinyl featuring Peter Brötzmann, mostly on the FMP label and dating back to the early 1970s. Most of these records were purchased new, and remain in very good to excellent condition - I will specify in the listing where any have surface scratches - none have skips or jumps. I've posted rips of some tracks at http://bjorsq.net/fmp/ so you can check out the sound before purchasing - if you have any specific questions about the quality and condition of individual LPs, please contact me.

Next week I'm selling a similar number of records which I have on FMP by other artists. Featured artists include Fred Van Hove, Han Bennink, Bill Laswell, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Sonny Sharrock, Misha Mengelberg, Andrew Cyrille, Albert Mangelsdorff, gunther Sommer, Harrry Miller, Louis Moholo, Alfred 23 Harth, Willi Kellers, Alex Schlippenbach, Willem Breuker, Rudiger Carl, Irene Schweizer and Peter Kowald.
