Andy Warhol Peeled Banana The Velvet Underground & Nico Verve Records 1967 Original Issue V-5008 We offer the Andy Warhol produced premier album "The Velvet Underground & Nico" released in 1967 by Verve Records. The album features The Velvet Underground band members Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Maureen Tucker and guest vocalist German-born Nico. The album retains the original sleeve and appears to be in very good condition and free of scratches. Unable to play the album so cannot report on the quality of the recordings. On the album cover, the original yellow banana sticker has been peeled revealing Andy Warhol's flesh toned "Banana". The reverse side of the cover retains the inverted image of Eric Emerson which caused the original records to be recalled and were covered by a black sticker. Later issues of the album had Emerson's image airbrushed out of the photograph. The interior of the cover features artist portraits by Warhol's associate Paul Morrisey. As seen in the photographs, there is an owner's name printed on the upper right front corner. The album cover is marked V-5008 on the reverse lower left corner. The record labels are marked V-5008 (MG-558) Side 1 and V-5008 (MG-559) Side 2.
