DETAILS :  A decent copy of the seemingly unsighted 1983 third and ‘red-label’ pressing which has different outer rim text with  copyright & manufacturing notes all the way around the label.

There is no known sales history of this issue and no doubt quite a find for collectors. I am uncertain as to how many of these red-label copies were circulated though I am leaning towards a limited run at best.

INFO : The blockbuster follow up to The Angels (Angel City) debut a year earlier.  2nd time around the band delivered had come up with an absolute monster of an album here. Face to Face was a watershed release in the annals of Australian hard rock, an era-defining work that stayed on the Australian charts for 79 weeks and still holds up to this day with its strong punk rock flavour. The song writing is some of the best of the band's career; indeed many of these tracks remained live favourites. Certainly the buzzing riffs are among the catchiest that the Brewster brothers guitar team ever came up with. Also, singer Doc Neeson injected a strong theatrical edge into proceedings and there's a real swing to the bottom end (courtesy of drummer Buzz Bidstrup and bassist Chris Bailey) which, like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo, makes the music roll as much as rock.

In the late 70’s The Angels were one of the biggest bands in Australia, attracting record crowds wherever they played. They were often seen as a punk/new wave outfit at the time, yet the high energy sound, powerful riffing and muscular yet supple rhythm section took the band beyond such easy categorisations. As for the songs, you can't go passed the classic Oz Rock singles "Take a Long Line", "Comin' Down" and "After the Rain", as well as such outstanding album cuts as "Straight Jacket", "Marseilles", "Be With You" and "I Ain't the One". With the release of the Angels music in the US (under the name Angel City) some young guns and future hard rock godheads were taking serious notice.

 With this fast and furious punk flavoured / party hard-edged effort these legendary Aussie pub-rockers brought the house down all over the country …the beers were cold, the chicks were hot and we were in full voice … awesome memories indeed.

 CONDITION :

                      VINYL  (fully tested) :   Under a halogen light Side 1 shows some light scuff marks which are barely noticeable during playback and it tracks along sweetly.

Side 2 has a couple of light marks (the most notable being on Track 2 ‘Be With You’)  though of no playback consequence … certainly no skips, sticking or sound issues of concern.

Full shine both sides and over-all a more than acceptable copy that is rated a strong VG+ on looks and EX on playback and I can’t see it disappointing.

                     LABELS :  Clean.

                     SLEEVE :  An impressive gatefold jacket. No splits or writing and the spine is intact. Very light ring-wear on the back cover but no big deal. The edges are smooth barring a part on lower back gatefold section .. miniscule indentations if anything. No obvious creasing and presents very well. Rated EX+.
