Classical record connoisseurs know full well the legendary status of Antal Dorati's original 1960 Mercury Living Presence Stereo rendition of Stravinsky's glorious Firebird Ballet Suite in its entirety. That original issue is among the most amazing and coveted of all classical recordings, amply meriting the Penguin Guide's coveted Rosette for Dorati's and the LSO's "Electrifying" performance recorded with startling early Mercury clarity and elan. But, you ask, can that wondrous recording be bettered? My Reply: You Damn Betcha It Can! and V.S.O.V. has exactly what you need! On offer here the even more extraordinary, Rare, Audiophile Quality, 180 Gram-Vinyl, superlative Dutch/Decca 2015 Reissue of Dorati's earlier sonic triumph in a First Edition and with Early European Pressings. Original Mercury Living Presence 1960 Album Serial No. Stereo SR 90225. This Rare 2015 Reissue Serial Number 478 8318. Deadwax mechanical stampers 2A (Side 1) and 1B (Side 2) thus First or Earliest Pressings. Disk is in remarkably fine condition. Close visual inspection under bright light shows no imperfections at all and retention of the highest gloss sheen on both sides. Appears very little played. (Play grading reveals enhanced awesome warmth, sonic range, part clarity, and dramatic sonic excitement surpassing the original. The apotheosis of the Firebird has to be heard to be believed here, sumptuous and thrilling.) Interior, plastic-lined, audiophile-grade, paper sleeve in Near-Mint condition. Jacket also Near-Mint presenting glossy front and fully intact rear and seams still in Shrink-Wrap. Not a Cut-Out.
