Here’s the celebrated baritone Antonio Scotti (not Scotti of The Antarctici, and not the man who beamed Captain Kirk up) with a lovely rare 12" PINK Gramophone Monarch single-sided 78 of the "Serenata" from Don Giovanni (Mozart) and "Quand ero paggio" (trans: "Oi! What page are we on?") from Falstaff by Balfe. Both arias, with piano accompaniment are on the same side of this magnificent single-sided disc. The number is 052113 and the mx is A875-1. It was recorded on New Year's Eve 1903, in the USA (Thank You Robert Johannesson) and this pressing comes from a very few years later.Condition-wise, we would describe it as exemplary. It is as clean as a limerick recited by Isla St Clair, and shines like a showroom-ready Ferrari. Let’s say (using “Record Collector” Magazine’s guidelines) it’s a good strong VG++ or better. Users of the "other" grading system might consider it to be a good E- or better.
There is one tiny blemish where a miniscule surface blister has been "popped" by a steel needle, sometime in the last 110+ years! Otherwise it plays beautifully.
There is an interesting "Cramer's" label still affixed to the label, showing that it was bought in Liverpool, close to what later became Brian Epstein's shop N.E.M.S.
