Description

Mildred Bailey, known as "The Queen of Swing," was an influential American jazz singer in the 1930s and 1940s. She was renowned for her clear, warm voice and impeccable phrasing, becoming one of the first female singers to achieve success in the jazz and big band genres. Mark Marnell, an orchestra leader of the same era, led his own ensembles and contributed to the big band sound, though he did not achieve the same level of fame as Bailey. Among the two, Mildred Bailey was undoubtedly the more popular and influential figure, leaving a lasting impact on jazz and paving the way for future generations of female vocalists.

We acquired this disc in a large lot of transcription discs from the estate of a former radio enthusiast and dealer, and will be listing many others over time. Many of these discs rarely - if ever - come up for auction.

This record has not been play tested, but we are more than happy to guarantee your purchase in the event it does not live up to your expectations.
