Art Blakey on Blue Note 1507 GREEN VINYL

 

This is an extraordinary rarity: The Jazz Messengers “At the Café Bohemia” on Blue Note BLP 1507 pressed on GREEN VINYL.  The deep-groove RVG-etched “P”-pressing has a West 63rd St. “INC” label on Side 1 and a Lexington Avenue label on Side 2.  The playing surface is in excellent condition, with just two inaudible scuffs near the beginning of Side 1.  The coated New York 23 cover is bright and clean throughout; 3” light wear on the top seam, at the spine.  The record is possibly unique, but undoubtedly the product of an experiment at the pressing plant.  Personnel include Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, and Horace Silver.
