Description

The French independent record company Astree is the most consistent label that puts out first rate program, performance, gorgeous package design with detailed notes, and last but certainly not least, audiophile quality sound. Most of their repertoire is early music, or classical period music played in HIP (historically informed performance) but there are also surprising (and surprisingly good) modern works. Collectors in the know already discovered the secret but unfortunately they are very scarce as they were targeting the connoisseur audience and the original list price is about 50% higher than the big labels. If this label is new to you, I highly recommend you give it a try!

Numerically the very first record in the amazing early music series, gorgeously played by the best viol (viola da gamba) player today. I could listen to this music all day!
