Audiophile Nimbus Supercut Weather Report Mysterious Traveller, an unplayed 1st issue of this series. When this came out in the late 70's, you had to be a reader of Practical Hifi, like jazz fusion (and possibly not already have this 1974 title, already 4 years old by then), and be bothered to send away a cheque for this via mail order offer from the magazine. They knew this limited the audience for it so about 800 were pressed. Of those how many have survived in clean condition as here?. Ideal demo for a high end turntable. The nimbus vinyl formula on special order from ICI back then is very very quiet, letting the mastertape do all the talking. I know this album like the back of my hand, having bought it in 1978 whilst still at school, and having heard it many hundreds of times since then. On this pressing, there is improved clarity between the very busy percussion and drumming, with a distinct metallic sparkle to the contribution of Brazilian master percussionist Dom Um Romao here. It is thrilling. This is one of the greatest Weather Report albums, and this is the greatest pressing I have ever heard. The reason I am not keeping it is mine is signed by some of the band from a later tour, otherwise this is a real highlight in someones collection, one to put on the table for a visceral experience, pretty much start to finish. Nimbus England in the run out grooves as called for.
Vinyl is visually unmarked Mint this is part of the large unplayed selection I am offering, & the sleeve is Near Mint, the british type shrink split to stop it deforming the sleeve (it shrinks more over the years) but no spindle marks to the pristine labels.
