Azul Limão’s Ordem & Progresso is a defining record in the Brazilian heavy metal scene, blending elements of traditional heavy metal and early speed metal. Released in 1986, this LP followed their debut Vingança and further cemented their reputation as one of Brazil’s most intense and energetic metal bands of the era. While their contemporaries in the Brazilian metal scene, such as Sepultura and Sarcófago, leaned toward extreme metal, Azul Limão embraced a high-octane sound influenced by NWOBHM and classic heavy metal.
The album's title, Ordem & Progresso (which translates to "Order & Progress"—Brazil’s national motto), reflects the band’s sharp, rebellious edge, tackling themes of social issues, war, and resistance. Azul Limão delivers blistering guitar work, aggressive drumming, and soaring yet gritty vocals, creating a uniquely South American take on European and American heavy metal traditions.
