Description
BABY HUEY - HARD TIMES / LISTEN TO ME [CURTOM 1962]
Label: Curtom 1962 Titles: "Hard Times" & "Listen To Me" Year: 1971
Baby Huey was one of many musicians lost to drugs and alcohol. However, like many stars who faded before their time, him music became far more appreciated after his death. This single was released in 1971, posthumously in conjunction with a film and album "The Baby Huey Story - The Living Legend." The film chronicled the rise and fall of Baby Huey. It went on to become a blue print for rap and hip hop music, often sampled and referred to. You can hear the early contributions to rap and hip hop on the Curtis Mayfield penned "Hard Times."
The vinyl has typical signs of play, but nothing to negatively impact the sound. The record still sounds great. The label has minimal ringwear. There are no stickers or writing on the label. There are no rips or tears on the label. The Buddah sleeve is included (as Curtom was a subsidiary of Buddah Records) and is in very good shape. At the top of the right side, the adhesive has lifted one side from the other, but it is not an actual seam split and can easily be re-adhered. There are no tears, writing or stickers on the sleeve. You can listen to the actual record here.

All records come with basic sleeves unless a factory or picture sleeve is indicated in the description. I do not use a grading system as I feel that everyone interprets it differently. For example, I see many records listed as being Near Mint, yet the label is torn or has writing on it. To me that is not near mint. I prefer to describe the record as best I can, post photos, and allow viewers to determine for themselves how the record should be graded.
I ship using Media Mail at $3.00 and deliver the day of or after the payment is received. Please remember that shipping costs also include the cost of materials to ship the order. International shipping is available. The cost to ship this Internationally is $20.00. I will also combine shipping. I try to keep shipping costs as low as possible, however recent increases by USPS have affected what I charge to ship - and believe me, I am NOT happy about it.
I am happy to ship internationally, however I will not change the value of the record. There are many reasons for this. First, I enjoy selling records and do not want to jeopardize that. Second, I include a receipt with the order and if customs were to examine the package, they would see the difference. Third, if something were to happen to the item in shipping, I would refund the customers money, but then not be able to claim what was lost. Thanks you for understanding.
