Bachman Turner Overdrive

'Four Wheel Drive'

Mercury, UK, 1974

9100 012

FRANKLY I can't get enough of this band. Their penchant for sledgehammer riffing and heavy bluster always connected with my sense of having a good time. Next to Foghat, Moxy, Derringer, Aerosmith (in their prime) and Ted Nugent these guys were the kings of the arena rock sound. Big on riffs, big on hooks and big on decibels.

'Four Wheel Drive' continues the punnishment in fine form with Randy bachman penning some of his best material including the unrelenting and skull cracking title track, the smack down sound of 'She's A Devil' and 'Flat Broke Love'and  not forgetting the hit 'Hey You' which is really son of 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet'. Elsewhere you've got more of the same including 'She's Keepin Time' and 'Don't Let The Blues Get You Down'.

Interestingly like my original copy purchased at the time of release this is a UK pressing housed in a US sleeve. The label saved on printing costs by importing the sleeves from the US.

If you haven't heard this one then do youself a favour and get in on the action now.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
