Description
Extremely rare and highly sought after bootleg 12" record. This is one of just 500 copies pressed and sold. The vinyl record dates from 2008 and features sleeve and record label artwork by Banksy. The two tracks under the name Queen & Cuntry unofficially sample the Queen hit: Don't Stop me Know, and use the same title. Side A is the 'Half Glass Mix' whilst Side B is the 'Full Glass Mix'.
I purchased this record new in 2008 from a Swag Records, a record shop in Croydon, Surrey. It was one of 5 copies they bought from a guy who came into the shop while I was on a daily lunch break visit. After he left Paul, one of the duo who ran the shop, passed me a copy and said 'you'll like this one!'. He had listened to the record through headphones before agreeing to buy the 5 copies. I added it to the pile of new records I was going through and, well, obviously, I liked it enough to buy it... I still like it, it's a belting bit of work and as a DJ I have played it at numerous events and it has always gone down a storm - it works as well today as it did in 2008! Here is a link to hear what it sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGeHXi7Dqak&list=RDpGeHXi7Dqak&start_radio=1&t=85
I bought his record because as a DJ I liked the tracks, I can remember the play on words used for the 'artist' made my chuckle and was clearly linked to the cover image by the one and only Banksy. Sadly, like so many record shops, Swag is no longer with us, but thanks to being in the shop at the right time and on the right day, I was one of five people who was able to secure a copy of this prized record!
As I have said, I have played the record, it has been in and out of a record box and is 12 years old, so as the photos show the vinyl is not mint condition and the sleeve isn't either. However both sides play without any issues, jumping or skipping. I have therefore listed the condition as Good although in reality it is probably Very Good.
Any copies of this record command large figures as these links will prove; https://www.musicglue.com/trendywendy/products/queen-and-cuntry-banksy-framed https://artsnap.co/products/banksy-queen-cuntry-don-t-stop-me-now-2008 https://www.artcurial.com/en/lot-banksy-ne-en-1975-queen-and-cuntry-dont-stop-me-now-2008-serigraphie-en-couleurs-sur-pochette-0 https://www.bukowskis.com/en/auctions/E260/lots/1057804-banksy-12-ep-with-cover-queen-cuntry-realeased-2008
I have priced this copy at what I consider to be attractive, perhaps even a bargain, but you are more than welcome to make an offer if you wish... I will consider offers, but please be realistic as there is no point wasting your time or mine.
