featured item in stock • THE BAN (tripsichord music box - the now) • BYE BYE / NOW THAT I'M HOPING
SIGNED BY 3 MEMBERS IN 1965! HAS "FRANK (straight, bass)" "OLIVER (mckinney-keys)" AND AN UNKNOWN SIGNATURE-PROBABLY A TRANSITION PLAYER AFTER MCGUIRE LEFT AS HE IS NOT SIGNED THE 45. IT COULD BE GUSMAN(randy bass) with FRANK STRAIGHT PLAYING LEAD GUITAR LIVE AT THE TIME OF THE SIGNATURES.
Originally dubbed the Ban, Tripsichord Music Box formed in Lompoc, California in 1963 -- the group was founded by singer/guitarist Tony McGuire, bassist Frank Straight, keyboardist Oliver McKinney, and drummer Randy Guzman (sometimes credited as Randy Gordon to avoid conflict due to his parents' management of the act). According to the book Acid, Fuzz & Flowers, the Ban signed to the Brent label to release their lone single, the garage rock stomper "Bye-Bye," splitting soon after when McGuire was drafted to serve in Vietnam; the remaining threesome then recruited singer/bassist David Zandonatti, with Straight moving to lead guitar. They then formed THE NOW for one 7" on Embassy.
