You are bidding on BARBARA PITTMAN I NEED A MAN / NO MATTER WHO’S TO BLAME.
This is on Quality 1572 ( pressed on Sun in the US). Includes original Quality sleeve
Shellac is a very glossy VG+ with some light scuff marks and some light hairline scratches .
Play graded on my Magnavox 78 RPM Record Demonstarator , sound is loud and clean.
Barbara was the first female singer that recorded on the Sun label. And she could rock like all the other rockabilly singers recorded by Sam Philips on his sun label. Check her bio at : http://www.rockabillyhall.com/BarbaraPittman.html
It was Leoppard's band who provided the bulk of the backing for her first Sun session with Buddy Holobaugh playing guitar, Stan Kesler on steel, Smokey Joe Baugh on piano and Hank Byers on trumpet, and Johnny Benero on drums held on April 15th, 1956. "I Need A Man" and "No Matter Who's To Blame" were released on Sun 253, and simply confirmed that female rockabilly, no matter how good, just did not sell.
Not being a great seller at the time, it rarely is seen today. Personally,I have never seen this 78 ( a 45 version on the sun label sold a few years ago for $500 + ) come up for auction and is extremely scarce, even more on the Canadian pressed Quality label which had even fewer produced than on the Sun label.
