BARRY GRAY ORCHESTRA Title Theme from Joe 90 / Hijacked ORIG Pye 45 DEMO 7N 17625 (UK, 1968)
Happy to present one of my all time personal favourite TV theme tunes - the seminal, one-time Northern Soul favourite, Joe 90 theme from the master of 1960’s kid’s music - the incomparable Barry Gray.
Here it is in rare demo format from its release on the 18-10-68 (date stamped on label) and what a well preserved beauty this copy is.
The vinyl evidently hasn’t seen much action with both sides retaining near full shine. There’s just two faint thin scuffs to one side, while I can’t see anything at all on the other. So visually a confident, true EX (+ to some!). Has been carefully listened to and plays without fault, issues or deterioration. So that’s no snap, crackle, pops, clicks, ticks, hiss, distortion, NO NOTHING!
The bright yellow demo labels are also in EX nick, with the date stamp slightly smudged to the A and just a little ring rubbing to both sides picked up over 41 years of storage. No writing, tears or damage and only mild spindle trails.
Barry Gray is one of my musical heroes and the loss of this seminal 7” single in its demo format will break my heart. But here goes…
