Description
BARRY GREEN: I wanna join the cavalry/When the morning returns (Decca F 13171, U.K. 1971)
Barry Green's career started at the age of 13, when he won a TV pop competition. After leaving school, he became a member of a group called Spice, the pre-Uriah Heep band that had a great single, “In Love”, out on United Artists in 1968. He also started writing his own songs. His first singles for the Decca Label were recorded under his own name Barry Green. The brilliant ”When the morning returns” was tucked away on a B-side from 1971. This song was supposed to be on the now sadly shelved “Fading Yellow Vol. 9” U.K. pop-sike compilation. After this 45 he began writing with a number of partners, including Lynsey De Paul and with her he had his first major chart success “Sugar Me”. His biggest success came one year later with “Dancin' (on a Saturday Night)” (as BARRY BLUE) a hit all over Europe as well as in Australia.
Strict grading. Record = M- (comes with original DECCA label sleeve)
