Roberto Conrado, Piero Montanari - Bass modulations

Italian pressing, Octopus OPT 0291 (1973)

Totally killer Italian library by drummer Roberto Conrado together with jazz bass player Piero Montanari. A couple of tracks (Cobweb and Way on) were comped on Schema's Scoctopus compilations, but the whole LP is great, full of funk and jazz tracks. The heavy progressive funk PROPERLY (complete with 3 mad bboy breaks), the killer bboy breaks interlude of LIKEWISE, the wild italian prog flute funk PLEDGE and the weird modulated bass funk QUIT HOLD. COAGULATIONS is beautiful proggy jazz with male scat vocals and COBWEB is groovy scat swingy jazz. RANGE IN and NIBBLE OUT (my fave tracks) are just super trippy psychedelic jazz. More jazz like the very Miles Davis - Milestone inspired WAY ON and the fine double bass driven baroque jazz LAY-OUT. Killer!
