"THE BEST MODERN JAZZ IN ITALY, 1962" - - SESTETTO BASS VALDAMBRINI - - RCA PML10326 - - AN INCREDIBLY RARE, HIGHLY SOUGHT OF ITALIAN ORIGINAL LP FROM THE OUTSTANDING BASSO VALDAMBRINI SEXTET - !!! - - PLEASE NOTE, THAT THIS IS NOT A COPY FOR THE AUDIOPHILE !!!! - - The glossy jacket is very neatly taped on all seams but still remains VERY ATTRACTIVE. The reverse of the cover is age stained but all sleeve notes remain cclean and clear. The disc, with it's deep groove black and silver labels, still retains considerable sheen but there are numerous surface marks which gives the performance it's fair share of tics and surface noise, HOWEVER, there is still loads of magnificent unspoiled playing time giving way to some of the finest modern jazz ever to come out of the great 60's era for Euro & Britjazz !!! - - This magnificent sextet, winners of the Arden for Men, jazz contest, "The best modern jazz in Italy, 1962", went on to reap many more rewards and Gianni Basso on tenor and long time associate, Oscar Valdambrini, on trumpet, led the group for a truly straight ahead hard bop unit with great success. In addition to the 2 co-leaders, there is some excellent trombone work from Dino Piana, with a wonderful rhythm section in, Renato Sellani piano, Giorgio Azzolini, bass and Lionello Bionda on drums. This is a formidable and exciting ensemble as you will hear on this album - - There are 7 great trax, including Junior Mance's superb, "Jubilation", Bennie Golson's, "Are you real", Jackie McLeans wonderful, "Dr Jackle" plus 4 more storming numbers !!! - - This is a session guaranteed to excite and regardless of it's condition, will give you huge pleasure in listening !!! - - I repeat, this is NOT a copy for the Audiophile, but being impossible to find and even if you do, at a very high price, this is still a great addition to any collection !!! - - AS ALL OF YOU THAT KNOW ME, YOU KNOW TOO, THAT I RARELY OFFER ANY ITEMS OF THIS GRADING, BUT BEING SUCH AN EXCITING ITEM TO FIND AND SO INCREDIBLY RARE, I FEEL THAT IT DEFINITELY WARRANTS A LISTING !!! - - Offered with no reserve and a VERY low start price, let me wish you good luck and thank you for your interest - - £15.00
