BATMAN - Original Television Soundtrack Album ORIG Stateside LP SL 10179 (UK, Mono, 1966)

Happy to present the ORIGINAL 1966 UK Stateside release of surely one of the most iconic 60’s comic book heroes, Batman (Adam West), as aided by his ever faithful sidekick, Robin (Burt Ward) with music and dialogue taken from the classic, and in my opinion, the most enjoyable Batman incarnation. This is the authentic Mono release with the -1/-1 matrices, the KT label stamp and the ‘Sold In The UK…’ label text. It is NOT the 80’s Mercury re-issue.

The single format, front laminated, tri-flipback sleeve is a real top, and I mean TOP example. Here you have a sleeve that looks very rarely handled in all its 44 years! Only three miniscule creases to the front laminate panel! Full colour retained with no fading or scrapes. Perfect spine - nice and squarely defined with all text legible. No edge wear whatsoever, either top or bottom. Superb corners with near full definition. No writing nor residue, no staining or stickers/sticker shadows. Nice and sharp opening edges with negligible softening. No laminate peel or lift and a lovely near full white rear panel, only the mildest of toning. Very rarely do I give Mint grades and although this is as near as possible, I’m going EX+ (Excellent Plus), hoping to surprise and delight.

The black and green mid 60’s Stateside labels look splendid. No writing, stickers, tears or other damage. One measly spindle trace per side with the KT embossed to the centre of Side 1. Lovely 1966 labels. POW!

The medium weight vinyl checks in at a confident and genuine full EX (Excellent). Looks very seldom played, and is virtually unmarked bar some wispy paper scuffs (very light, nigh on invisible), a very small fine hairline to one side and a gentle nick to the same side. Has been properly listened to and plays great with no major issues. There’s a couple of pops between tracks on Side 1, while track 5 on Side 2 throws out some light ticks. Bear in mind some occasional soft surface in the background, but also bear in mind the fact that there are NO clicks, no hiss, no distortion or loss of clarity and no groove wear. Some great sleazy moments combined with plenty of bat kitsch and an element of mid 60’s beat sounds make this LP a winner throughout.

An essential period piece, which for those of a certain age can only bring back fond memories. In great condition throughout, this is one not to miss. With track titles such as ‘Batusi-A-Go-Go’, ‘Holy Hole In The Doughnut or (Robin You’ve Done It Again)’ and ‘Batman Thaws Mr. Freeze or (That’s The Way The Ice Cube Crumbles)’ this is a fun-packed cruise into the comic Pop Art world of swinging times gone by. And there are also some really cool musical moments!
