BBC Transcription Disc Joyce Grenfell / Muir and Norden

This is a rare pair of BBC Transcription Discs that I bought it about 10 years ago.

The first show on this set is Joyce Grenfell in a programme of her songs and monologues, and the second is A Portrait of Frank Muir and Denis Norden.

Joyce Grenfell: As a writer at the BBC during and just after the war, she collaborated with Stephen Potter in writing the "How" series of 30 satirical programmes from How to Talk to Children to How to Listen. During the 1950s she made her name as a sidekick to such comedy greats as Alastair Sim and Margaret Rutherford in films such as The Happiest Days of Your Life (1950) and the St Trinian's series. She was also a member of the influential Pilkington Committee on Broadcasting from 1960 to 1962.

Grenfell is now best remembered for her one-woman shows and monologues, in which she invented roles including a harassed nursery teacher ("George - don't do that"). She gained additional popularity as a result of her frequent appearances on the BBC's classical music quiz show, Face the Music. Although her humour appeared light and frilly on the surface, underneath there was always a surprisingly darker undertone.

Frank Muir and Denis Norden were responsible for writing many great comedy shows - Take It From Here probably being the longest and most famous.  They also could be found performing on panel games such as My Word! and My Music!   This half hour show provides a portrait of the partnership.

This is a two 10" disc set, with half a show on each side of each disc, allowing the show to be prepared over two turntables for continuous broadcast.  The expiry date is 30.11.61, which would mean the shows were originally broadcast on the BBC in the late 50s.   These are in mint condition and has only been played by myself a couple of times, and I suspect only half a dozen times at most ever.  

I am reluctantly thinning my collection due to running out of space, moving house, and trying to pay to decorate the new house - and this is one of many that I will be listing on ebay over the coming months.  Please read the following before bidding.

Notes about postage:
I am based in the UK and the photo will be sent from there.
The postage costs are determined after the auction closes and depend on the service required and the final value of the item - I won't send unless it is covered by insurance.
My rate for one disc sent by standard UK recorded delivery is £4.50 with items shipped in record mailers, and are covered by Royal Mail insurance up to £39. 
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAY BE A LITTLE MORE THAN THE ONE DISC RATE BEING TWO EP SIZED DISCS!
For final values over £39, the only insured option is by Special Delivery and this is approximately £8.00 in the mailer, and insurance covers up to £500

Notes for after the auction closes:
After the close of the auction I will send out an invoice and appreciate payment within 2 working days.  One reminder will be sent if payment is not received, and if there is still no payment I will go through the ebay claim procedure.   Much as I would like to chat via email afterwards, this is generally not possible due to the large amount of photos I sell at a time, and I prefer to concentrate on answering questions about live auctions and getting the items shipped as quickly as possible once they sell.   If you make a payment instantly it may well be the first you hear from me is the disc arriving through your post box.   Please be assured this is not me being rude, just trying to be efficient!
