Description
Legendary and influential Stack-o-Tracks album by Brian Wilson and the Wrecking Crew (basically) credited to The Beach Boys.
Let me explain…the Beach Boys were under contract to Capitol to produce a certain number of albums during a certain time period.
At the end of the 60’s, Brian wanted complete artistic control over his creations so Brother Records was formed. After the poor sales of the
Smiley Smile album, Capitol was happy to let them go but not until their contract was fulfilled. This is where you get Stack-o-Tracks, the instrumental
backing tracks with Brian’s brilliant, complex arrangements played by LA’s finest session musicians. Carl played some guitar here and there but
there was no involvement by the rest of the band. Fascinating records. It’s now commonplace to hear breakdowns of songs into vocal and
