Description
This is a very rare original pressing of the very first Beach.Boys record, Surfin b/w Luau, on Candix 301. This is the version The Beach Boys themselves had pressed up to sell at shows and out of the trunk of their car at the beach. They got some good airplay on local radio with this record, which brought them to the attention of Capitol, who signed them and later reissued this same recording on Capitol. But this is the original independently pressed copy, which some say was done in a run of only about 300 copies. Anyhow it is a real classic rock and roll collector's item, and quite hard to come by. This copy has some wear but not bad at all. You can see some scuffs and a few lines but it still plays just great. Surfin has some crackle at the end but other than that the whole record sounds wonderful. A little light background crackle at the beginning of each side but really the music is loud and clear with no interference. A little wear on the labels as well (see photos) but still a lovely copy. So hard to find in playable condition.
