My previous criticisms of Their vocalist havebeen Addressed on this one - no complaints here. But Their use of orchestration Seems unnecessary and out of place on this type of LP. Obviously not averse to taking chances, the inclusion of the genuinely bizarre cut "May I Light Your Cigarette" is Overshadowed only by Their decision to throw it on the B-Side of Their only non-LP single! This track is truly unique, and Will certainly leave you scratching your head at the very least. Another chance taken is the band's answer to Iron Butterfly's "Inna-Gada-Da-Vida", released only a few months prior, in Their cover of "Baby Please Do not Go". Clocking in at just over 40 seconds shorter, search lengthy cuts were far from the norm in 1968. Record companies were loathe to devote so much space to vinyl only one track. They were in the business of selling records, and the four or five cuts That Could be fit into the 16+ min time of this one track were four or five more oportunities for a hit. Besides, every record company exec knew the listening public only had about a three minute attention span. Releasing a Long track was a big gamble, One That paid off. In Iron Butterfly's case, but sealed the fate of The Beacon Street Union Too bad - it's Possibly their best cut.   WHY NOT CHECK OUT MY EBAY STORE -
