Description
The Beat Of The Earth: same 1967, USA/Radish AS-0001. Disc is M-, it is unplayed! Cover is M- in shrink wrap with sharp corners, this is flawless! Step back in time to Summer 1967, boys and girls... surf music is no more, and rock music is starting to take itself seriously, to maybe even become ART. This bunch of ex-beatniks and hipsters wore their hair longer than anybody and organized concerts/freakouts in southern California for some time before deciding to create their own "artistic statement". If the definition of a "garage band" is a group whose ambitions outpace their ability, then this is a garage band for sure. These are not musicians in the proper sense (not yet...) and this isn't really "music". This record is more a document of the unpredictable live sound collage that one might experience at one of the early acid happenings. It really works, you can practically see the liquid light show on the walls as it plays. Viewed with that mindset, it's a perfect album. It sounds just like it's supposed to, and the cover absolutely reeks of SoCal hippie vibes. One of the most unique items from the private press scene, and what a f*ckin' miracle it is that you have a shot at a MINT one 40 years later. The dream has faded away, but a little handful of the magic dust still exists. Protected by goats!
