This auction is for an extremely rare original 1963 STEREO pressing of the Beatles Parlophone debut LP 'Please Please Me' on the yellow / black label. This is the extremely rare '64 press that only ran for a very short time which had the original typeset but featured the 'Sold in UK' statement!
Back in early 1963 the stereo format was still in its infancy. Stereo records cost a lot more than their mono counterparts and stereophonic record players cost a small fortune back then. So everybody bought the mono presses. The original stereo presses of the early Beatle albums sold in absolutely tiny amounts and, today, are extremely hard to find!
In 1964, for a very, very short time, the design on the covers were changed slightly so that the format designation on the front was made smaller, but keeping it's original typeset. Very soon after this the cover was re-designed again to feature the stereo in small, more basic lettering. These 'mid sized' stereo covers, due to how short-lived they were and because they were stereo, which barely sold at the time, means that today they are incredibly hard to find!
Not in the best condition, but certainly an extremely rare pressing that hardly anybody will have in their collection. Will make a great collection filler!

The cover is looking pretty good but is showing its age a little. The front cover is clean with a little rubbing on the laminate and has little creases around the corners and edges. Top seam has a few little creases running through it but is holding tight with no tears or splits. Bottom seam has a few little creases running through it and has worn in two small patches about an inch or so across, but has not split. Spine has some little creases running through it but is fully legible with no splits or tears. Back cover has browned slightly with a little extra browning in the middle on the spine edge and the mouth edge. Apart from that though, there's no stains, sticker marks or anything and the only writing is where someone has put tiny ticks in pencil next to four tracks on the track listing. Overall, the cover is looking pretty good and is holding up nicely! Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : GOOD
The playing surface has a nice shine to it but does have a lot of light scuffing all over, along with some slightly heavier marks and scuffs in places. Looks well loved but not trashed in the slightest.
.
The labels has a few rubs and marks as you can see in the photos above. There's some light spindlewear and some whitening around the centrehole.
