This auction is for a very rare 2nd press copy of the Beatles debut Parlophone single ''Love Me do / P. S. I Love You'. This particular pressing features the black Parlophone label! The push-out centre has the KT tax code yet the deadwax as the MPZT tax code at the 9 o'clock position on both sides.

The single was originally released in October 1962 on the red Parlophone label and did modestly, reaching number 17 in the charts before quickly dropping back out into obscurity. There wasn't much demand at all for copies of this single even back when it was originally released, so by the time the black labels were introduced by Parlophone in 1963 hardly anybody was looking to get hold of a copy, particularly since both songs was already available on the Please Please Me album.

Because of this, the black label copies were only manufactured in tiny amounts and, today, have become extremely difficult to find! Comes in its original green Parlophone company sleeve!

The company sleeve is holding okay but is showing its age. These are made of very fragile paper, though, so is looking better than most out there do! It has yellowed a little but has a nice green colour to it. There's some light creasing nd a little wear around the opening. There's an approx. 2" split in one of the sides in the middle, but the other side and bottom are holding okay. Not looking too bad considing how fragile the company sleeves are.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : FAIR

The playing surface looking a little tired and has a lot of light scuffs all over along with some slightly heavier looking scuffs and some light surface scratches. Not trashed, but should be considered a collection filler.

The labels are looking pretty clean. the silver print is lookingeverso slightly faded but still all very clear and fully legible. Side 1 label has the name Chris McLean (Thanks, Chris!) written on the left and side 2 has the initials BS written in the pushout centre. Both labels have some light, faint spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole.
