After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please check out my other listings and remember to save me as a favourite seller, as every week I'll be listing more and more increasingly rare, collectible and desirable Beatles records!
Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for a copy of the Beatles US VeeJay LP 'Introducing the Beatles'.
Considered to be a Holy Grail by many Beatles collectors (it certainly was to me), this is a 100% authentic, genuine version 1 pressing that lists the tracks Love Me Do and P. S. I Love You. But what makes this particular pressing special is that this is the ARC (Allentown Record Co. Inc., Pennsylvania) pressing with the Brackets VeeJay logo!
The story behind Introducing the Beatles is very interesting and is worth a read. It can be found on it's Wikipedia page.
Quoting from Wikipedia:
"On 16 January 1964, less than a week after Introducing... The Beatles was released, Vee-Jay was served with a restraining order stopping further distribution. Beechwood Music, Inc., Capitol Records' publishing subsidiary, owned the American publishing rights to "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You", and because the two songs had not yet been officially released in the US, Beechwood refused to issue a license for Vee-Jay to release them.[2] Approximately 80,000 copies of Introducing... The Beatles had been released with the two songs on them, with only 2,000 or so in stereo."
However, just before production was halted on the version 1 presses of Introducing the Beatles, ARC started manufacturing copies using labels that featured the newer brackets VeeJay logo. Almost immediately after production started the call came to hold fire whilst the tracks Love Me Do and P. S. I Love You were changed to Ask Me Why and Please Please Me.
Literally only a few thousand copies were ever pressed by ARC before the tracks were changed (some sources say just 4,928 copies) and it's widely considered that just a few dozen copies still exist today!
This could well be your only chance to pick up a copy of this insanely rare Beatles LP!
This is a 100% genuine, authentic pressing and not a counterfeit or fake!
Nearly every fake version 1 was printed as stereo whereas most mono version 1 copies are genuine. This copy has the right colour hue, it has George's shadow, it has the 1/4" internal overflaps at the top and bottom of the mouth (on fakes this overflap is much longer) and the back passes the 'Honey' test. The deadwax on this particular pressing is under 1" - the deadwax on fake presses is much bigger. The deadwax also features the 'Audiomatrix' machine stamp and 'ARC' etching which, again, are never found on a counterfeit pressing and the credit 'The Beatles' is above the spindlehole. On every fake this credit is below the spindlehole!
The deadwax carries the ARC etching, indicating that this copy was manufactured at Allentown Record Co. Inc., Pennsylvania and it's Spizer / Cox unique identification number is VJ 1062 (1).MR3

The cover is showing a fair amount of wear and tear but, generally, is holding up okay. The front cover has a nice, rich colour to it and has a fair amount of light wear and some ring wear. There's a faded rubber stamp which I think is an owner's address stamp. I can just about make out the name Alfred L Lalboom from Mayfair Avenue - I can't really make out the rest, though. The top seam is pretty worn and looking fragile, but hasn't really split. The bottom seam is looking a little more fragile and has split a little from the mouth edge. The spine has flattened and has some light wear with a small split in the middle. The back has yellowed a little with some wear, as you can see in the photo above. There's a small amount of dark blue that has rubbed on next to the 'Side One' text but, apart from that, not too shabby. Inner Sleeve: GOOD

The original VeeJay inner sleeve is included. IKt's looking okay with some light creasing and a little wear along the opening. There's also a small tear as you can see in the photo above. One of the sides and the bottom seams have split a little, though. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : VG

The playing surface has a nice shine and a fair amount of light scuffs. There are a couple of slightly heavier looking scuffs but nothing nasty or anything.

The labels are pretty clean although there is a very small smudge on the side 1 label to the right of the 'Side 1' text and another small smudge on the far left. There's what appears to be as small sticker residue on the VeeJay logo on side 1. The rest of the label, and all of the side 2 label, is looking really nice! Both labels have bright, silver text and have a little, light spindlewear with a touch of whitening around the centrehole. Nice labels!
